The workshop featured updates on clinical data, case studies and interactive discussions led by leading interventional cardiologists. It was fascinating to see how the AGENT DCB offers superior drug delivery and vessel healing, addressing the limitations of traditional balloon angioplasty. We explored its clinical applications, benefits, and recent trial data that highlight its effectiveness in treating complex lesions.

Overall, the workshop was an excellent opportunity to learn, network, and stay updated on cutting-edge innovations in vascular care. If you get the chance to attend a similar event, I highly recommend it!

Empagliflozin for CKD: Benefits, Research, and Patient Outcomes

Posted in Drug Talk

Had a golden opportunity to share a case on how we manage patient with CKD from cardiologist point of view along with Dato Sri Dr Azhari Rosman!

It was a well organized talk attended by a group of 20 Gps!

Empagliflozin is an SGLT-2 inhibitor originally used for managing type 2 diabetes. Recent studies have shown its efficacy in treating chronic kidney disease (CKD), regardless of diabetic status. By reducing blood glucose levels, empagliflozin also helps to lower blood pressure, reduce proteinuria, and mitigate the progression of kidney damage.

ckd

Great Q&A sessions about SGLT2i and as well as general cardiology questions.

The EMPA-KIDNEY trial demonstrated significant benefits, showing that empagliflozin slows down CKD progression, reduces cardiovascular risk, and lowers the likelihood of hospitalization due to heart failure. Its kidney-protective effects are believed to stem from reducing intraglomerular pressure, improving metabolic parameters, and decreasing inflammation and fibrosis in the kidneys.

I have learnt alot from Dato Sri as well as the GPs!

Overall, empagliflozin represents a promising treatment option for CKD patients, with or without diabetes, offering improved renal and cardiovascular outcomes.

Grateful for the opportunity given and hope to have more in future!

Master Diabetes Management: Ryzodeg Workshop 2024

Had a golden opportunity to brush up my insulin knowledge on Ryzodeg at 1 day workshop at Melaka.

ryzodeg

Great lineup of speakers from endocrinologist to Nephrologist & Cardiologist Dr David Yong!

Also managed to just walk to the famous Jonker Street, made world renowned by Fan Bing Bing!

Hot weather, around 1.5km from hotel.

Those taking umbrellas you know for sure are not Ang Moh haha

Stopped by this famous chicken rice shop to take my lunch before walking back to hotel

Not to forget their cendol!

Incidental finding of this Optimus Prime, took a photo for my son!

So what is Ryzodeg?

Ryzodeg is an insulin medication that combines two types of insulin: insulin degludec, a long-acting insulin, and insulin aspart, a rapid-acting insulin. This combination helps manage blood glucose levels throughout the day and during meals, providing a convenient and effective option for people with diabetes. Ryzodeg is designed to improve glycemic control and reduce the number of daily injections needed. Very less hypoglycemia noted in trial & real world study ARISE!
